Modified Allan Variance Analysis on Random Errors of MINS
Allan variance method is a useful tool for analyzing the random errors, but the confidence on the estimate would be lower when the data length became shorter, therefore the modified Allan variance is deduced to analysis the random errors of MEMS inertial sensors (MINS). The definition and limitation of Allan variance are presented first, and then the modified Allan variance is deduced. Allan va...
متن کاملModeling Inertial Sensors Errors Using Allan Variance
It is well known that Inertial Navigation Systems (INS) can provide high accuracy information on the position, velocity, and attitude over a short time period. However, their accuracy degrades rapidly with time. The requirements for accurate estimation of navigation information necessitate the modeling of the sensors' noise components. Several methods have been devised for stochastic modeling o...
متن کاملA time-controllable Allan variance method for MEMS IMU
Purpose – The purpose of this paper is to reduce the calculation burden and speed up the estimation process of Allan variance method while ensuring the exactness of the analysis results. Design/methodology/approach – A series of six-hour static tests have been implemented at room temperature, and the static measurements have been collected from MEMS IMU. In order to characterize the various typ...
متن کاملThe Wavelet Variance , Allan Variance and Leakage
Wavelets have recently been a subject of great interest in geophysics, mathematics and signal processing. The discrete wavelet transform can be used to decompose a time series with respect to a set of basis functions, each one of which is associated with a particular scale. The properties of a time series at different scales can then be summarized by the wavelet variance, which decomposes the v...
متن کاملSpectral ambiguity of Allan variance
The phase-noise spectrum determines the Allan variance by a well-known integral formula. It is shown here that unique inversion of this formula is not possible in general because the mapping from spectrum to Allan variance is not one-to-one. A necessary and sufficient condition for two distinct phase spectra to have the same Allan variance is given.
